Status Monitoring API (SMAPI) Working Group Status
   1 May 2004 - 28 April 2004

Accomplishments:
---------------------
1. Had a face to face meeting on 19th in Tokyo.
      Participants were:
         Takaaki Higuchi(Sun), Yoshida Mikio(BBR), Ide Kentaro(EPSON)
Shinpei Kitayama(EPSON KOWA), Nakasone Masayuki(EPSON KOWA)
         Nomura Kazuo(EPSON), Matsutake Naomi(AXE)
         Mihara Osamu(FUJI XEROX Printing Systems)
         Shida Keisho(Canon), Toratani Yasumasa(Canon)

2. Discussed how we should change the FSGSM_CMD_CTRL protocol, and
decided to use only the Command Reading/Writing Pipe for exchanging
the FMGSM_CMD_CTRL's control data between the Stub and the Status
Monitoring Process to avoid the dead lock condition due to the
parallel processing between the fsgsmCtrl() function in the Stub and
the writing data into the Data Reading Pipe in the Status Monitoring
    Process.

3. Discussed how we shoud change the FMGSM_CMD_WRITE protocol to make it
more generic, and decided to change the first command sequence of it
to query the remaining buffer size or acceptable data size to the
    Status Monitoring Process.

4. Discussed why we need the multiple shared libraries interface, and
realized the problem that the Monitor that links to the multiple shared
libraries that have the Status Monitoring API has to deal with the
multiple signals form the multiple shared libraries to handling the
    time out for reading/writing.

5. Update the Status Monitoring API document according to the above
discussion, and uploaded it to the local web page.
